ANALOG CROSS-MODULATOR NOISE AND DRONE MACHINE

OXYMORON is the perfect solid foundation for any drone and experimental patches. Whether you need it as the main source of modulation, to create a massive wall of sound with its six oscillators, or as a standalone drone machine thanks to its internal cross-modulation capability! Speaking of which, by using the internal cross-modulation utility, you can achieve constantly evolving atmospheric results, as well as crunchy and funky textures or harsh noise for inharmonic sound design, such as metallic and robotic sounds.

Under the hood, OXYMORON is packed with six independent modulators connected in cascade, each featuring both sinusoidal and square waveform outputs. These can range from fast to slow with a flick of a switch or can be used as oscillators in the middle switch position. It also features three channels, labeled A, B, and C, each with a mix output of two modulators and a volt-per-octave input per channel. This results in incredible detuned tones, powerful synced bass, leads and chords, or chaotic modulation when used as an LFO.

Besides being able to operate all by itself, OXYMORON excels in a variety of setups, and one of its secret powers is being the perfect module for designing a drum machine, delivering sound source and modulation in one package, a perfect match with one or two BINOME modules, for example…just sayin’!!!

To sum it up, OXYMORON will always find a use in your Eurorack case and will always understand your needs! From hyperactive and bipolar to calm and steady, it is simply the perfect Swiss knife modulator for your setup, no matter how your mood varies.

  • CONTROLS :

    MOD 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, AND 6:

    • Adjust the frequency of LFO 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. The LEDs indicate the rate and blink yellow for positive voltage.

    FM “X” CV / MOD “X” DEPTH 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, AND 6:

    • Attenuator for IN CV FM input. When nothing is plugged in, these attenuators are internally connected in cascade. For example, MOD 1 is modulated by MOD 6, MOD 2 by MOD 1, MOD 3 by MOD 2, and so on.

    SWITCHES:

    • Switch between two types of LFO and an oscillator.

      • EXCITE: Very fast LFO.

      • OSC: Oscillator mode.

    • RELAX: Very slow LFO.

  • CONNECTIVITY :

    INPUTS:

    • IN CV FM 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, AND 6: CV input for controlling the speed of LFO 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.

    • XV/OCT CH. A, B, AND C: Dedicated input for any 1V/oct or can be used as an additional FM input (Don’t expect good 1V/oct tracking in VCO mode).

    OUTPUTS:

    • SQR 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, AND 6: Outputs for the square waveform.

    • SINU. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, AND 6: Outputs for the sinusoidal waveform.

    • SQR CH. A: Mix of the square output from MOD 1 and 2.

    • SQR CH. B: Mix of the square output from MOD 3 and 4.

    • SQR CH. C: Mix of the square output from MOD 5 and 6.

    • SINU. CH. A: Mix of the sinusoidal output from MOD 1 and 2.

    • SINU. CH. B: Mix of the sinusoidal output from MOD 3 and 4.

    • SINU. CH. C: Mix of the sinusoidal output from MOD 5 and 6.

    Metallic powerhouse!

While this thing has a lot of potential uses in terms of drones/modulation, my personal use case is the mixed/fm'd outputs for metallic tones going into Binome's mk1&2. Add some noise from the Boucan, and voila...you've got instant gnarly hats/snares/rides. It's so hands on and fun to change in the middle of a patch as well, highly suggest adding this to your arsenal!

    Awesomesauce

The Oxymoron is just awesome. It reminded me of my beloved Sleepdrone5, which I had to sell and still miss. But It is much more versatile and better sounding. I love it and it will be the last module I sell (if forced at gunpoint!)
